Institute of Directors Yearly Staff Hui

Boatshed Wellington

The purpose of the day is for IoD to hear from young directors about what they think, feel, need and do as it relates to their interactions with the IoD. Not all our young directors are members, and some have had little interaction with us, and this is great as it covers a wide spectrum of directors so gives us a great picture. This will help us understand their needs and get us thinking about the IoD of the future and what services, products or support you need from us. This is going to be an informal and relaxed session, and we want you to feel welcome and comfortable as our guests.

Session details:

Please arrive at the Boatshed at (or before) 10.30am. We will be having morning tea at this time, and you are invited to join us for this. You will be able to also meet your fellow ‘young directors’ and I will guide you to your group.
We will start this session at 10.45am with an overview from our facilitator, with the the empathy discussions commencing just before 11am. If you are unable to make morning tea please let me know. I’ll be stationed at the door until 11 (or once all our young directors have arrived).
You will be paired with a small group of IoD employees – a maximum of 5. Each group will have a discussion lead who will be one of our senior leaders. They will guide the discussion.
The discussion will be in the form of an ’empathy interview’ a key ingredient to Human-Centred Design. This discussion will be scripted, and I will share the script with you as soon when I receive this from the facilitator (this afternoon).
There will be two rounds of the discussion – each lasting up to 20 mins. Our staff will move tables halfway through this session, so you will have the same conversation with a different group, led by the same senior leader.
Once the discussions are complete, you are free to depart. We expect this to be by 11.45am but allow an extra 10 mins to be safe.
