The I.Lead is proud to present to you the I.Lead Conference 2021! Being held in Wellington on the 14th and 15th of September.
The I.Lead Conference was the first ever of its kind in New Zealand for young people with disabilities, making headlines and helping to ignite massive change in government policy for young people with disabilities.
Since the first Conference in September 2019, I.Lead has evolved into a powerhouse movement aimed at giving young people with disabilities a voice at any table, whether its across the desk from a potential client, to across the boardroom to a world-class CEO.
With help from key officials in different government departments, as well as prestigious leaders within the disability community, I.Lead has gone on to do exactly what it aimed to do: make change.
We have featured in the Youth Plan 2020-2022 as well as the Disability Employment Action Plan, two very active government documents fundamental to creating opportunity for young people with disabilities in all aspects of their life.
We have also collaborated on a number of projects with central government organisations such as Ministry of Social Development and the Office for Disability Issues, working on creating change at the ground level within our communities, while also developing and fostering leadership skills and opportunities for young people with disabilities across the country.
With this in mind, and coming off the back of the COVID-19 pandemic and the numerous lockdowns that had come out of it, we decided it would be a good idea to hold another I.Lead Conference this year.
This year’s conference aims at refining what was discussed back in 2019, honing in on specific issues that would help chip away at bigger symptoms around inaccessibility, inequality and barriers that were raised in the last conference.
We are also looking to establish some regional groups around the country, helping to disseminate information across a wider network. The wider our reach, the bigger the impact.
This year we are having it on the 14th and 15th September, with expressions of interest opening for both becoming a member of I.Lead and attending the conference itself. Be sure to submit yours and for everything I.Lead, be sure to stay tuned into the Blog Spot for everything I.Lead.
